Go bold and make your own statement. Who hasn’t heard that before? But doing it for real is something different altogether. A few years back, imagining your boyfriend in pink, yellow or orange would have been a social “ouch!” but thanks to designers like Kirti Rathore men can expand their colour spheres beyond the conventional blue and grey.
Her collections, mostly inspired from the royal attires worn by Rajputs had a modern edge combined with audacious use of bold and vibrant colours. The big question mark looming above my head regarding their wearability was tossed to the ground as soon as my eyes met the long line of dashing men carrying off colours with confidence. So hats off to her for thinking out of the box but make sure you are confident enough to pull off the look before you walk out in them.
Mostly based on the age old Jodhpuri Achkans but shorter, her creations feature high-cut armholes and Mandarin collars. Among all the designers participating in the Signature Premium Fashion Week Kolkata she was probably the only designer with a male only designer. This is not strange at all, considering that she is actually a male apparel designer.
Earlier this year she presented at the Rajasthan Fashion Week too, and we could see a few repetitions in the line-up. But still her collection was a pleasure to see.
