Summers are all about chilling in the pool for hours, visiting water-parks and beaches, prancing around in short sun-dresses, following the summer trends and letting our skin breathe in a stylish manner. But wait? Does all these summer fun come without any cost?
Well we know that answer. Terrible uneven dark patches on our skin and the stark colour contrast between the covered and the uncovered skin. Rings a bell?
I’m sure it sounds familiar. We totally resent the after effects of hanging out in the sun, which appear in the form of an ugly monster called “Sun-tan”.
You may hate it, but you definitely cannot avoid it. What’s in your hands is to reduce the dark patches. But I’m sure you have all wasted both time and money experimenting with the beauty products which do look promising but yield results which are no good. Trust me I have been a victim too.
The saddest part is, in this age of commercialization, we have completely ignored the one beauty salon which happens to be at our easiest reach, and promises no side effects. It’s our very own Kitchen. So I’m going to guide you through some amazing home-made solutions to get rid of your ugly summer tan.
Who doesn’t relish a glass of fresh lime soda in this heat? But have you ever wondered, this small citrus fruit could work wonders for your skin? All you have to do is, mix 3-4 drops of lemon juice with 1tsp. honey along with 2-3 strands of saffron. Apply this on your face for 20 minutes. Give your face a slight massage and wash it off.
We all love them in salads, but cucumber juice mixed with a few drops of lemon juice helps heal tanned skin. You could also add 3tsp. of gram flour (besan) to ex-foliate your skin.
Tomatoes work as a natural bleach. Cut a tomato in half and refrigerate it for some time. Rub it on your skin (flesh side). It gives very fast results.
Rather than including this high carbs vegetable in your diet, use it for skin-care. Potatoes miraculously even out your skin tone. Grate a raw potato and extract its juice. Add a few drops of lemon and apply to your face.
This dairy product again works as natural bleach. Mix some yoghurt with a tablespoon of honey and a pinch of turmeric. Apply on your face like a mask. Leave on for some time till it dries and wash it off.
Yoghurt mixed with oats applied to the skin is a good tan- remover. It can also be used to ex-foliate.
These tips when used consistently do give great results. But you should always be careful when you are stepping out in the sun. Use a sunscreen lotion and always carry a hat or an umbrella. Sun tan can never be healed overnight, so good amount of patience is required while working on them.
